Emergency Dentistry
Emergency Dentist
We at Zen smiles take pride in handling emergencies very well. We have extensive experience in handling emergencies. Most emergencies in dentistry is pain related, commonly due to neglected teeth and hygiene. Once pain starts in a tooth, it is very obvious that the decay has reached the innermost layer of the tooth called the pulp chamber. At this stage the options are very much limited to Root canal treatment or extraction.

Avulsed Tooth: A tooth came out during a fall or a sports injury, What is the best thing to do. Please pick the tooth up with the white enamel part of the tooth and gently rinse in a cup of milk and make an emergency appointment with us. Please note, you should never wash the tooth in tap water or any other bottled water as these can damage the viable cells on the root surface of the tooth. once you reach us, we will assess the tooth and decide, whether it is a good option to fix it back or no. If we have fixed it back, then we may also recommend a root canal therapy after few weeks. This management is different, if it is a baby tooth.
Pain: If there is severe pain in the tooth, you may apply a tiny glob of cotton soaked in clove oil to ease the pain. This works very well, especially if it’s a tooth decay related pain. also note the close oil can cause burn damage on the gums, hence be very careful not to keep it in the cheek or on the gums. You may also take an aspirin or any other over the counter pain killer, provided you are not allergic to it.
Broken tooth with bleeding from the tooth: This often happens due to accidental trauma . a sterile cotton could be kept compressed on the tooth , until bleeding stops. An xray is required in most cases to assess, whether we can retain the remaining portion of the tooth in the bone or no.
