Gum Disease
Gum disease is a silent killer of teeth . It is also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the tissues that hold your teeth in place that is the tissue around your teeth( which involves gums,bone etc). it is typically caused by poor oral hygiene which allows plaque to build up on teeth and harden. In its early stage it is known as gingivitis, The gums can become red and swollen and bleed while brushing. In its more advanced stage it is called as periodontitis, gums can pull away from tooth causing gum recession, bone loss and teeth may loosen and fall out eventually. We can stop the progress of gum disease but it is not reversible. Good oral hygiene practices, including twice brushing and flossing in a day, regular six monthly check ups can help prevent gum disease.
